February 11-12, 2019 Snow Event

Ashwaubenon Public Works Briefing - updated 10:00 am 2/12

As this current snowfall event works its way through the area, the Village of Ashwaubenon Public Works Department wanted to send out an updated schedule of snowplowing operations for our residents and businesses.

With the snowfall arriving a bit later than anticipated, Public Works started its first full plowing/salting operation at 7:00 AM this morning.  This operation started with the clearing and salting of all main arterial roadways and will be followed by all local residential streets.  As this first operation wraps up, the main arterial roadways will be cleared again for the evening commute.  All told, the first plowing operation should wrap up around 6:00 PM tonight.  A second full plowing/salting operation is then planned for 2:00 AM Wednesday morning.  During the second operation, school facilities and Safe Routes to School sidewalks will be cleared.  A friendly reminder to our businesses and properties with sidewalk frontage not on the Safe Routes to School, to clear the sidewalks within 24 hours of the end of this snow event.

For our refuse and recycling customers, Public Works was planning to pick up the routes as normally scheduled, but it has been delayed from its normal start time to allow the plowing operations to get a head start on the routes.  If your garbage and recycling is not picked up today, please set it out tomorrow morning and it will be picked up at that time.

We thank our residents, businesses and visitors for your patience and understanding over the next 24-48 hours as we complete the clean-up from this snow event.

Ashwaubenon Public Works Briefing - updated 2:30 pm 2/11

With the snowfall currently forecasted for the area, the Village of Ashwaubenon Public Works Department wanted to send out a schedule of snowplowing operations so that our residents and businesses are kept up-to-date as to the current plan.

Public Works will be monitoring the roads through Monday evening into Tuesday morning to determine the best time to dispatch its full plowing/salting operations.  At this time, it appears as though we will conduct a full clearing and salting of all Village streets starting around 2:00 – 3:00 AM on Tuesday morning.  This operation would start with the clearing and salting of all main arterial roadways, followed by all local residential streets and would be expected to last until around 9:00-10:00 AM.  Due to the anticipated duration of the snowfall, the plan is to conduct a clean-up round of plowing at the end of this initial operation, so the roadways are in decent shape for the evening commute. A second full plowing/salting operation is then planned for 2:00 AM on Wednesday morning.  During the second operation, school facilities and Safe Routes to School sidewalks will be cleared.  The timing of the second operation is dependent upon the track of the storm and will be adjusted as the weather warrants.  A friendly reminder to our businesses and properties with sidewalk frontage not on the Safe Routes to School, to clear the sidewalks within 24 hours of the end of this snow event.

For our refuse and recycling customers, Public Works is planning to pick up the routes as normally scheduled, but it may be delayed from its original 7:00 AM start time to allow the plowing operations to get a head start on the routes.  If the storm does not allow completion of a day’s route, it will be finished the following morning.

An update to this plan will be put out on the Village website and social media accounts Tuesday morning as more information is gathered as to the storm track and timing.  We thank our residents, businesses and visitors for your patience and understanding over the next 24-48 hours as we complete the clean-up from this snow event.
