Deer Management

The 2016/17  WI Statewide archery / crossbow deer hunting season begins Saturday, September 17, 2016, running through Sunday January 8th, 2017.  This includes Ashwaubenon.

For the 2016 WI DNR deer hunting regulations CLICK HERE. Page 7 will give you more information on seasons, including the metro sub units, which can extend the season through January 31, 2017,  if proper regulations are followed.

Urban deer hunting with a bow/arrow/crossbow is legal in WI under WI ACT 71. Hunters wishing to hunt in Ashwaubenon must get permission to hunt from any property owner that has an occupy-able dwelling within 50 yards of the desired hunting spot. There is NO hunting on any Village owned property, and NO hunting w/ guns is allowed in the Village.

PLEASE REPORT ANY DEER THAT HAVE BEEN CULLED IN THE VILLAGE TO THE PARKS & RECREATION DEPARTMENT!  THIS WILL ALLOW BETTER ESTIMATION OF OUR VILLAGE DEER POPULATION. CALL 492-2331.

As the deer management topic progresses within Ashwaubenon, further information will be posted on this site.  Questions may be directed to Rex Mehlberg (Director of Parks, Recreation & Forestry) @ rmehlberg@ashwaubenon.com

There were 26 reported deer culls within the Village during the 2015/2016 season.
